Private Line Locates
At Markem Line Locating, we specialize in private utility locates for farms, acreages, and commercial properties. Unlike public utility companies, we identify and mark the private lines they won’t, including gas, power, data, water, and sewer.

Using advanced, top-of-the-line locating technology, we provide fast, accurate results, helping you dig safely and confidently.
Ground Fault Locating
If you're experiencing a "lost phase" — where some 240V appliances aren’t working, certain outlets or lights are out, or there's no power at all — you may have a ground fault. This often happens when the underground power cable supplying your home or business is damaged below ground.

At Markem Line Locating, we offer comprehensive ground fault locating services. Once you contact us, we’ll schedule a convenient time to isolate and test each conductor in the underground cable. With a certified journeyman electrician on staff, we ensure proper precautions when working around live electrical.

By precisely identifying the location of the fault, we help you avoid unnecessary full-line replacements. This allows your electrician to repair only the damaged section — potentially saving you thousands of dollars in repair costs.

Aerial Photography and
As-Built Documentation
Using drone technology, we have the ability to capture high-resolution aerial photos and video after your locate is complete. This allows us to provide you with a clear, professional as-built record of all marked utilities — ideal for planning your next ground disturbance project.

Our aerial imaging service delivers detailed visuals at an affordable rate, giving you peace of mind and a reliable reference for future work.

Locating Non-Conductive
(Plastic) lines
Modern line locating equipment relies on conductivity — which means it can’t detect non-conductive (plastic) lines such as most water, sewer, and some gas lines unless a tracer wire was installed with them. Without a tracer wire, these lines are effectively invisible to standard locating tools.

During this process, we insert a conductive fish tape into the line, allowing us to trace its path using our locating equipment. To do this, we need access to one of the following:
-
A septic clean-out
-
A non-pressurized water line
-
A dead gas line
To further support this service, we have a certified journeyman gas fitter on staff who can safely dismantle gas piping as needed to assist with the fish tape insertion.

This method is both safe and effective — helping you locate hidden plastic lines without the high cost of specialty equipment.
